NATURA NATURATA 2014
Eine Gruppenausstellung im WiE KULTUR, Wegenerstraße 14-15, D-10713 Berlin-Wilmersdorf
15. Februar - 29. März, 2014
Curator: Chaos Y. Chen
Eröffnung: Sa. 15. Februar | 17-21 Uhr mit dem Live Musik Improvisation ab 19.30 Uhr von David Rothenberg (US) & Bernhard Wöstheinrich (DE)
A man, plays his clarinet in the middle of the icy Arctic.
To whom does he sing to? Who is out there, listening?
David Rothenberg teaches philosophy to engineer students, which is his day job. He is also a musician. With his music as a consequence of listening, playing to birds, bug and whale, he tries to prove how wrong Darwin could be. How our world must have been written with the language of beauty and grammar of joy.
The visual artists in this ensemble dwell in their own world, fascinated by the material which tells the myth of nature.
Werner Klotz recorded the light in the creek running through deep valley of high mountains near his house. Waszem Khan became for once a cloud maker in the desert. For Ulrike Mohr, charcoal is magic. It is burned but doesn’t collapse into ash. It remembers the structure and subtle details of a piece of wood, and yet turns it immortal. Antonio Catelani is a sculptor in painting. His recent monochrome paintings oxidate itself along with time. Like human, they are aging. In the hand of Loris Cecchini, the cold and hard wall vibrates, from within. Gong Zhang let his piece grow and expand on the wall but remains on the surface only, without root. Since modern time, the least natural material would be, plastics. Dodi Reifenberg recycles the plastic waste into art, while Xinglang Guo extends sun beam into a forgotten corner in the world. There is one, Pierluigi Guglielmo, who reminds us with his site specific action painting, an art space is an art space.
“natura naturata” is a quote from Spinoza, a free thinker, who tried to name the very unspeakable infinity.
